Plasma-active! KDE on a tablet, and FOR a tablet.

The KDE team has announced the Plasma-active initiative to join there traditional desktop and netbook experiences.  This certainly took us by suprise, but should it really have?  The KDE Team already has a platform in development for mobile phones so a variant for tablets is not such a wild idea if you think about it.

What is most surprising here is how much different it appears to be from the mobile phone platform, not to mention how different both of those are from the netbook SC!  Does the KDE platform just not scale well?  It seems to be that it needs a major over-haul and rearrangement depending on intended screen size.  But hey, this may be something great for all of those HP Touchpads out there that long to be touched…
