SAMSUNG NEXUS TO DEBUT ON THE VERIZON 4G LTE NETWORK

vzw

Today, I drove past the local Verizon Wireless store here in Terre Haute. After several conversations and a long night watching the live Android 4.0 show and tell, I didn’t put two and two together. I missed the giant banner on their trailer showing a girl holding a Nexus surrounded in rings depicting the “best” signal in the universe…

Upon returning from lunch, a local coworker came over clasping his Droid Charge with a fresh network speed test displayed. He apparently has just noticed a 4g icon hovering in his notification tray, and proceeded with the test. At the bottom of the screen was a big huge 32M stamped in black letters next to “Download” and a nasty 6M up… Cripes…

Being a Tmobile customer, and a proud one, I love my HSPA+ network and the 10M+ average speeds we surf in our little midwest town. Obviously, when Mr. Rubin stated that LTE technology would grace the the new Galaxy device, I was relieved to see the HSPA+ logo following it. However, I teared up a bit pondering the fact that Tmobile had launched every Nexus… Why not now?

AT&T…

So work went on and I arrived at home and began scouring Google+ and Facebook for any juicy gossip and was promptly linked to a CNET article by Nicole Lee here weaving the tale of Verizon’s big news, dumped in our laps via Samsung’s Facebook page. Alas congrats to the Verizon Android addicts out there, you get first dibs.

Sprint will add it’s first LTE phone in 2012, but as to whether or not it rocks a curved AMOLED HD screen is yet to be anounced.

AT&T… whether they land the Ice Cream Sandwich goodness or not, Grandma’s house will eventually sport the magenta Nexus after they mop up Tmobile.

So to sum things up, THE phone to have should be coming your way sometime soon, most likely on all major carriers, one way or another. ;) And again, congrats to the VZ boys and girls for getting one of the coolest toys…
