Hello 2012!
If you were looking for 2011′s Best of, click here.
We’ve already done a recap of our most trending pages of 2011, but there were some great pieces that got lost in the mix. Here are the best editorials 2011 had to offer at The Powerbase.
Number 5
Who’s On Google Plus And Why Are They So Smart?
Social networking is a boom industry but it’s hard to sell a Sega when you already have a Nintendo. Social networking sites do have the ability to co-exist however. The only thing that’s different between them is the audience. Google Plus is no different, and when compared to Facebook, the + community offers up some of the most intelligent shares on the web.
Number 4
WebOS: A Future Of Choice
When HP open sourced WebOS, speculation about its future was rampant on the web. Well, The Powerbase was there with some speculation of its own. The potential success of WebOS cannot be predicted, but where its trying to go is both plain and obvious. The real shining star of this editorial is the Back To The Future graphic…
Number 3
Gnome 2.x: I’ll Miss You
We’ve already mentioned this post in our other ‘Best of’ post, but it has a place on this list too! If you were a Gnome 2.x user, you should give this a read. This was written before the world had heard about ‘Cinnaman’, and Mate was merely an announcement in the Arch forums.
Number 2
Jon Rubenstein: A Retrospect
Palm was the best. In 2008, I was still a happy Treo user. I didn’t need an iPhone and I was perfectly content with what I had. Was I was not content with was Ed Colligan slowly digging that product’s grave with a shovel call ‘Cobalt’. When Ruby joined up with Palm, I was more than ecstatic. Of course things didn’t go as they were intended to.
Number 1
The Girl With The Penguin Tattoo
This ranks in at number 1 because of the 50/50 quality/traffic split. Not enough people have seen this one, but it did do pretty well in terms of this site. Go get a taste of what the Millennium Trilogy would have been like if Lisbeth had been a Linux user.
