Google Talk Suffers Majority Outage

gtalkdownfeatured

Google Talk is down.  In the early hours of the AM today, users of the Google Talk service began tweeting about the service being down.  Reports seemed to have started in India and other parts of the east today, and are quickly spreading to the west.

According to Google service page for Talk:

6:50AM  *  We’re aware of a problem with Google Talk affecting a majority of users. The affected users are able to access Google Talk, but are seeing error messages and/or other unexpected behavior. We will provide an update by 7/26/12 7:50 AM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem. Please note that this resolution time is an estimate and may change.

Google has been vigilant about providing updates, on time and as promised, though they reveal little about the issue, cause, or what will be done to bring the service back online.

All aspects of the Google Talk services are down.  This includes users of Google Apps for Business as well.  Google promises another update at 09:50AM EST this morning.
