Indie Game Dev Rotating Canvas Develop Google Play Lens For Ubuntu

googleplaylens

Independent games developer Rotating Canvas has been developing a Google Play lens for Ubuntu which is now available for installation!  The lens allow you to search apps in the Google Play store, though not much else, so the practical use of this lens is yet to be discovered, but we’re sure something interesting will come of this.

Unfortunately, there are slightly different installation instructions for ubuntu 12.04 and Ubuntu 12.10.

To install in Ubuntu 12.04, please do the following:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:abhshk-btra/rotatingcanvas
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install googleplaylens

To install in Ubuntu 12.10, do this:

sudo apt-get install python-unity-singlet
cd /tmp
wget http://goo.gl/ZozkU -O googleplaylens_12.11_all.deb
sudo dpkg -i googleplaylens_12.11_all.deb

Rotating Canvas is responsible for developing Balloon Shooter, Choozak and Polar, available in the Google Play Store.  While you’re installing the lens, why not check out this gameplay footage from their latest game, Choozak!
